Update from ANSA Homes regarding COVID-19

Five ways to get the most out of your display home visit

get-the-most

With the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, display homes are once again open and welcoming new home buyers, albeit with adherence to social distancing regulations.

So, now’s the time to get your home-owning plans fully on track and find that perfect home you’ve been dreaming of! While online research is great, there is something special about visiting your nearest display home village and actually walking through the houses and picturing yourself living there.

Get the most out of your next display home visit

Before you jump in the car, here are seven hints and tips from us to you that will help you get the most out of your next display home village visit.

1: Be strategic

It’s going to be a long day, so have a game plan and try to stick to it. Doing so will ensure that you allow time to see everything you want to see and leave knowing that you are one step closer to making your big decision. Have a list of must-see homes to go to first, and a second list of homes to see if time permits. If you plan on visiting HomeWorld Marsden Park, you’ll be able to tour three ANSA Homes’ designs: the Sierra 33 , Brooklyn 32 and Arlo 25.

2: Know what you want

Before going display home hunting, have a firm list of the features you want in your new home. Your list may be general (number of bedrooms and bathrooms, for example), or it may go deep into the finer details.

The more you put on your list, the better it will guide you through your display home visit. Include the type of finishes you want, the type of counter tops, tiles, or bricks that you want. There are no wrong answers here; be guided by what truly matters to you. And don’t be distracted by the glitz and glamour – beautiful interiors are a dime a dozen at a display home village. Instead, focus on the fundamental elements of the home that you will be using daily and look carefully at floorplans and the flow of the house.

3: Document your day

Visiting a display home village is a reconnaissance mission, so make all your time and effort worth your while by documenting your day. You’ll be visiting any number of display homes, and the last thing you want is for them to all blur into one the moment you get in your car and drive home. Capture the experience with detailed notes (including overall impressions of each home you visited) and photos. When you get home, you’ll be glad you did.

4: Know your builders

It’s easy to get wrapped up in the excitement of a large display home village. There can be dozens upon dozens of shiny display homes to peruse and it’s easy to feel like a kid in a candy store and fall in love with all of them.

But choosing your builder is arguably more important than choosing your home. If you like a certain design, research the builder. Do they build as many homes as they can, or the best homes they can? What’s their approach to customer service? What certainties can they give you before, during and after your build? Find a builder that you have a good rapport with and feel you can trust.

5: Not all upgrades are created equal

Display homes are built to impress and are usually fitted with premium upgrades, fixtures and features – many of which may not be included in the base price. So, if you fall head over heels for that bench top, high ceiling, fittings and choice of tiles, make sure you clarify with the salesperson just what’s included in the base home package price. And if you like what you see, ask for the total cost of the house on display, built as is.

6: Come prepared

On the day, be organised and capture as much information and as many details as you can to review once you get home. It goes without saying that you’ll need a notepad, pen, and a smartphone or camera. But it pays to also bring a tape measure, along with dimensions of large existing items (bed, couch, dining table etc) that you’ll be bringing with you into your new home. It would be devastating to find that the home you have fallen in love with just won’t fit your beloved antique cabinet.

7: Have fun and enjoy yourself

Okay, we’ve given you a lot of guidance, but one more thing – have fun no matter what. This is an exciting time for you and your family, so enjoy it. Let your imagination run wild. Your new home is your dream, so dream big, look for certainty and don’t compromise.
